The International Conference on Intelligent Technology and Sustainable Environment (ICITSE-2024) will be held at Hungkuang University in Taichung City, Taiwan, on October 30, 2024. This conference aims to bring together researchers, industry professionals, and academics from around the globe to share the latest developments in intelligent technology, sustainable environmental practices, and interdisciplinary research.

The event will feature keynote addresses by leading experts, technical sessions, and workshops designed to promote collaboration and innovation. Attendees will have the opportunity to present their research findings through oral and poster presentations, providing a platform for in-depth discussions and feedback. The conference will cover a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence, smart cities, environmental monitoring, green energy solutions, and integrating intelligent technologies into sustainable development strategies.

In addition to the technical sessions, the program includes networking opportunities, exhibitions showcasing state-of-the-art technologies, and industry panel discussions focusing on the current challenges and future trends in sustainable technology and environmental management. ICITSE-2024 aims to create a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among professionals committed to advancing intelligent solutions for a sustainable future.

The impacts of climate change, energy challenges, and the global pandemic have significantly transformed people’s daily habits and behaviors, driving new business models and lifestyle changes in areas such as energy use, healthcare, travel, finance, education, work, and recreation. With the rise of smart technologies like 5G, big data, AI, IoT, and blockchain, digital transformation is sweeping across sectors like the environment, energy, healthcare, and agriculture, opening up new market opportunities.

In the field of smart energy, the government has been actively promoting green energy and net-zero emissions, setting Taiwan’s environmental strategy goals for 2050, with wind power, solar energy, and smart energy storage as key pillars. The development of smart grids, energy-efficient management systems, and sustainable energy practices aims to significantly reduce energy consumption while achieving energy savings and carbon reduction targets.

In terms of smart healthcare, the pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital healthcare ecosystems, enhancing care quality and driving the digitalization of the medical industry. This includes providing remote diagnostic imaging, pathology, ultrasound records, and electronic medical records, along with telehealth services like appointments and follow-ups with doctors.

Meanwhile, global warming remains a pressing concern worldwide. Extreme weather events like intense rainfall and droughts, coupled with the improper discharge of industrial, agricultural, and domestic wastewater into rivers, groundwater, and oceans, have led to severe pollution affecting ecosystems and human health. As compound natural disasters and resource shortages, such as water and energy, grow more severe, smart technologies are crucial for enhancing sustainability, adapting to climate change, and mitigating its impacts.

Against this backdrop, the theme of this symposium is “Smart Technology and Sustainable Environment.” By bringing together domestic and international scholars, the symposium will explore the latest applications and emerging trends in smart technology across the environment, healthcare, energy, and sustainability fields. Through practical experience-sharing and discussions, the event aims to inspire fresh ideas and innovative solutions, driving the continued development of smart technology and sustainable practices in Taiwan through interdisciplinary collaboration.
